FOLLOWING the monthly meeting of the Amiss - ville Ruritans the club was offered an insight to some of die fundamentals of atomic energy.
Guept speaker, Edward Kann, manager of the Northern Piedmont Electric Coop, told of a new process to be employed at the Clinch River plant in Tennessee. While early atomic plants have been faced with the problem of disposing radio active residue, the new procedure converts the residue into additional power. The normal usable part of Uranium 235 is 7%, the balance of the ore is Uranium 238 with 99.3% useable. The new process will greatly economize on the use of Uranium. Mr. Kann stated it was. his opinion that by 1980 atomic energy would supply 80%
