But once again, a state government which wants to dam up beautiful rivers—for industrial expansion— and which seems determined to do everything it can to promote offshore oil exploration, even at the expense of a historically strong fishing industry (which leaves the environment alone, by and large), makes us wonder about what sort of conservation effort is really being talked about.

“Spruce up” Virginia’s beautiful landscape, by all means. And at the same time, don’t pollute it with excessive “development” and highways.D
