Miller Hall, a new science complex named for former Madison College President G. Tyler Miller, was dedicated at the college last Saturday.
Dr. Miller, a native of Washington, is a former principal of the old Washington High School and a former superintendent of schools for Rappahannock and Warren Counties. He was president of Madison College from 1949 until he retired in 1971.
Governor Mills E. Godwin was the principal speaker at the dedication and Ronald E. Carrier, current president of Madison College presided. Dr. Miller was present for the ceremony.
During Miller’s tenure as president, student enrollment at Madison grew from 1,300 to more than 4,000, the campus was enlarged by 240 acres, 19 buildings were constructed, and the college became co-educational.
