seasons open
Saturday April 12, marked the opening of Spring turkey season. Ten turkeys have already been checked in the county. With two gobblers to his credit, Elwood Welch of Flint Hill has been the most successful hunter to date. The season closes on May 10.
High water after stocking has made trout fishing more challenging this year. Several fishermen checked had good catches despite the adverse conditions. The season will be closed May 12-16 for restocking and will reopen on May 17.
Spring gobblers, trout, and apple blossoms are harbingers of warmer days. Unfortunately, the number of litterbugs and the damage done by their carelessness seem to rise with the temperature. Remember, littering is a violation of the law. Enjoy the outdoors but leave the area cleaner than you found it.D
