“It is hard to believe that a write-in campaign could be victorious,” he said, and added, “My only hope is that the town continues to be a beautiful place in which to live.”

Mrs. Virginia G. Miller was re-elected to the office of Treasurer with 65 ballots. A quiet write-in campaign netted Paul Walker 27 votes for Treasurer. Mrs. Anna Curtis and H. T. Updike received one vote each for Treasurer.

TWO council members were reelected and three new ones were chosen. Incumbents, Mrs. Dorothy Hawkins received 62 votes and Charlie Jenkins polled 88. Other voting for council included Dorothy Clater, 71; C. E. Giles, Jr., 77and H. T. Updike, 65, to complete the elected slate.

June Jordan polled 37 votes, relinquishing her council seat; and new candidates were Bradford Fisher with 40; Robert Hasse, 22; Charles Manson 27. Mrs. C. E.
