THE wildlife population in Rappahannock has been decreasing because of many things. One is lots of people hunting out of season. This reduces the number of newborn animals each year. Some of the animals that it reduces are the deer, rabbit and squirrel.

Pesticides are another important factor. They kill out many of the birds and other game. When birds nest in trees that have been sprayed with such poisons as parathon and DDT, many of them die. When the deer eat the apples that have been sprayed they sometimes die, too.
