“TO AVOID a possible early season shortage of home canning lids this year, we urge consumers to buy only enough lids for immediate needs between now and late June,” S. Mason Carbaugh, Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Commerce, warned.
“We have studied the supply and demand situation for this year,” Carbaugh continued, “and we believe if everyone will cooperate and buy lids in the spring for MayJune needs only, again in late June and July for »ummer needs only, and again in the late summer for fall needs, then the supply of regular size canning lids should be adequate throughout 1976.
