Leigh said the department will cooperate with the program all year, and in many instances will work with civic groups interested in special clean-up and landscaping projects.
LEIGH said citizens can help cut the cost of the campaign by:
1. Keeping a litter container in their vehicles and using it for paper and other trash.
2; Using die litter receptacles placed by die department along the state’s highways. There are approxiamtely 1,400 such receptacles.
3. Encouraging the establishment and use of adequate local refuse disposal facilities where they don’t already exist. This would help eliminate the problem of household garbage sometimes deposited at the roadside receptacles.
