According to C.H. Shaffer, Game Management Field Coordinator for the Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries, “considering the dry conditions and the prematurely hot weather, the Spring Gobbler Season seems to be fairly normal.” Shaffer said that “the condition of the woods, in addition to being high on the danger list in regard to fires, makes it nearly impossible to ‘stalk’ the birds through the dry leaves and undergrowth.”
