MOTORISTS, bicyclists and pedestrians need to remember that returning to daylight saving time will require extra caution.
“On Sunday, April 25, clocks were set ahead an hour and reduced light conditions occured during the early morning hours. Motorists should be particularly watchful for students riding bicycles or walking to school at this time,” according to John T. Hanna, director, Highway Safety Division of Virginia.
“Children need to be reminded not to stand in roadways while waiting for buses. If sidewalks are not available, children should stand on the road’s shoulder, well out of traffic. When bike riding in groups, young children often tend to spread out. Drivers should always check for additional bicyclists if one or two bicyclists cross the street,” Hanna advised.
