Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly held a Bicentennial Day on Friday which featured students in period costume and the preparation of a 100 year “time capsule.”

In colonial costume, the students re-created on stage dramatic scenes from 1776, including the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Betsy Ross presenting the flag to George Washington, and Washington crossing the Delaware. Later, from the front steps of the school, the Declaration of Independence was read to students by the headmaster. As the Union Jack of Great Britain was lowered and the Stars and Stripes raised, a cannon was fired and students cheered. To end the ceremony, boys in the
