PETE LUKE said that County citizens have complained about the subdivision ordinance— that they couldn’t understand it. He explained that the ordinance was made complicated on purpose. The legal language was used to give the ordinance some flexibility.
Luke said he was for more than just the existing ordinances. “I’m for a comprehensive plan. How it should be written, how specific it should be I don’t know. How can you control those 96 houses?” (He was referring to 96 individual building permits issued in Rappahannock County last year by the zoning office without, according to the existing ordinance, Planning Commission recommendation.)
