In the 100 yard dash which is based on a quick start and speed, Jamell’s time of 11.4 set a new state record. Her speed and endurance in the 440 also reaped \ a championship and set a record. Her time in that event was 58.5. She placed fifth in the high jump competition.

Dawn Keithley placed second in the mile run. To attain this goal as a freshman is a great accomplishment and her impressive time of 5.37.7 set a new record. Keep an eye on Dawn for she is surely on the move.

Janice Aylor, also a freshman, was sixth in the 880 and her time of 2:36.8 set a school record.

The only boy to place in the state events was Fred Frye. His triple jump of 42’ 11 3/4” put him fifth in the state and recorded a new distance for the school.

The girls team as a whole garnered enough points to place diem fourth in the state which gives, some indication of the determination of these girls who have no . home track on which to practice. Their possibilities seem unlimited, said coach Ann Spieker.D

CHICKEN DINNER

A fried chicken dinner will be on sale Sunday, May 30 beginning at 12 noon and will continue until 5 p.m. at the Sperryville fire hall prior to the showing of the film ‘‘Come Day, Go Day, God Send Sunday”. Adult dinners are $2.00 and children under 12 will be $1.25. _a mi_j... if... on -t nnt*
