WHEN contacted for comment on Davis’s actions, Supervisor Chairman Pete Luke said that he had written to the State Attorney General requesting an opinion on the duties of a county sheriff, and asking for a reply by April 7.
“Patrolling is what the State Police do—looking for speeders, setting up road blocks and radar,” explained Luke. The general duties of the sheriff include checking residences, schools and businesses, areas that the State Police don’t cover.
