Mrs. Yowell
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hale Yowell, 87, of Etlan died February 20, 1977 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital. She was a retired school teacher, the daughter of the late John William and Amanda Kipps Hale Yowell and widow of A. Waverly Yowell.
Mrs. Yowell was a native of Madison County and a member of Mt. Nebo Church. She was a member of the Madison Homemakers Club, the Madison Garden Club and an active national flower show judge since 1950.
Survivors include four sons, John A. Yowell of Bealeton, Everett H. Yowell of Haywood, Joel B. Yowell of Pratts and W. Mayo Yowell, Madison; three daughters, Mrs. W.C. Rosson, West Point, Va., Mrs. W.W. Eure of Falls Church, Mrs. T.E. Hall, Jr. of Richmond; 23 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Additional survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Sarah C. Coates, Madison, Miss Lucy Hale of Pratts and Mrs. Anna Lee Old of Lynchburg; a brother, John S. Hale of Pratts.
A funeral service was held Tuesday at Mt. Nebo Lutheran Church conducted by the Rev. William Hall and the Rev. Ronald Wiley. Interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Madison.
