Capelle also asked if Rappahannock representatives would like to meet with other, counties affected by Park expansion plans, possibly on an annual basis, and would the Planning Commission like to submit written comments on the draft management proposal?
LUKE thought the information in the draft was too general. Miller added that it appeared the Park would be taking more land out of the county with an authorized boundary that included property from Sperryville to Washington and on to Flint Hill. “It looks like they'll be taking more land but you can’t tell for sure,’’ Miller commented.
“They’ve got us running scared. Why don’t we hit them with something?’’ asked Planner Alan Stokes. He suggested that the Planners ask the Park authorities why the Skyline Drive had not been upgraded since its original construction.
Miller proposed that die Planning Commission go on record with a request for answers to Capelle’s questions from the Park authorities. “My feelings would be based on the answers.’’
The Commission members agreed and requested that Capelle write Park Superintendent Jacobsen. Masterson,. Miller and Stokes will also accompany Capelle on a visit to Jacobsen’s office, tentatively scheduled for March 3 or 4.D —Daphne McCullough
