Everyone knows it’s been a hard winter and measurements taken in Shenandoah National Park confirm that February, in particular, dealt out some rough blows. Weather statistics from Big Meadows show maximum temperature during the month as 44 degrees with a minimum of -2 degrees. Eleven inches of' snow and .52 inches of precipitation fell.
Compared to the previous year, Park visitors fell off 58.5 per cent. Portions of Skyline Drive were closed on five days during the month.
