In addition to exercising care that the pewter doesn’t melt, Faust must check his work frequently for fatigue. The metal tires easily, he explained, and then literally falls apart.
As soon as his pulling with the back stick and forming tool results in the desired shape, Faust trims it and then cleans and polishes the finished two ounce cup.
Amissville’s spinner keeps hard at work, designing his creations. Hg frequently attends craft fairs, and belongs to the Northern Virginia Handcrafter’s Guild. Faust's work is carried locally at the Wits End craft shop in Ben Venue.
He has equipped his lathe so that it is easily moved, enabling him to give demonstrations of his pewter spinning art.
