Because the setting of "National Velvet” is a small rockwalled village on the coast of England and because many people remember Elizabeth Taylor in this first hit movie, they think she is English. She is entirely American with Middlewestern roots, although she was born in Kent, England, in 1932.
Her father, Francis Taylor, ^ was born in Illinois, trained as an art dealer in New York City, and later opened an art gallery in Old Bond Street, London.
Her mother, born in Kansas, was named Sara Warmbrodt and became an actress using the name of Sara Sothern.
Miss Taylor is now the wife of John Warner of Middleburg. She is presently helping him in his campaign to become Virginia Senator in the place of the retiring William Scott.
