The Rappahannock County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) began issuing cost-share payment checks on October 1. 1978 for completed 1978 agricultural conservation program (ACP) practices.
Farmers who have completed a practice should report it to us immediately," T. R. Taylor, Chairperson of the ASC committee, said. He pointed out that any approved practices which may not be carried should also be reported so that the funds may be used for other requests.
Cost-share checks for completed practices are expected to total $23,765. Mr. Taylor said 95 farmers participated in the 1978 conservation program.
ASCS encourages all farmers and ranchers to install needed practices in order to solve rural pollution and conservation problems. The ACP shares with farmers between 40 and 60 per cent of the cost of materials used to carry out soil, water, woodland and wildlife conservation practices on their land.
