Consolidation
Likely
With over 5,200 proxies returned to Northern Piedmont Electrical Cooperative, management today revealed that it appears its proposal of merging operations with those of Virginia Electric Cooperative, Bowling Green, will have the required number of votes for approval by the membership.
“Although we will not know for sure until August 16, at the conclusion of our annual meeting when all votes have been cast by members present, we feel confident that the proxies we receive during this coming week before the meeting will put us well over the top in affirmative votes,” stated Francis Updike, Member Services Director.
Plans call for the consolidation proposal to be approved by the Rural Electrification Administration and the State Corporation Commission during 1979.
