No one at the Supervisors’ public hearing spoke against Kramer’s rezoning application. Luke, however, read a letter from Dorothy Davis presented by Hampton District Suprvisor Clarence Baldwin.
In it, Davis noted that Kramer had objected to her rezoning request on the grounds that commercial buildings should be kept off the highway. Citing ljer experience with the mill, she reported that there was a spring under the structure that caused flooding in its lower levels. She acknowledged that the building was designed for commercial use but pointed out that the mill hadn’t been in operation for more than 75 years.
