Windrush. located on Route b37 between Flint Hill and Huntlv. was dedicated last September as a wildlife preserve by formei Ambassador and Mis. George McGhee. The sanctuary is part of a joint effort between the Audubon Society and the Piedmont Environmental Council to establish a series of wildlife havens along the easterm slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The 850 acres included in Windrush comprise one of the last relatively unspoiled rural areas in this section of the country.
A number of trail walks averaging about five easy miles have been established, and rules for use of the property to day hikers are simple and straightforward. Copies may be obtained at the Piedmont Environmental Council offices.
