The marriage of Miss Kay Hampton Garnett of Bowling Green to James Russell Whitmer of Culpeper took place April 18 at 2 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church, Sparta.
The bride’s parents are Mrs. Betty Kay Garnett of Bowling Green and the late Reuben C. Garnett. The groom's parents are Mrs. Charles T. Haynes of Amissvilie and Harvey R. Whitmer of Winchester.
Officiating at the ceremony was Rev. John Edmonds of Fredericksburg.
The bride, given in marriage by her brother R. Carter Garnett, wore a chapel length gown of white organza adorned with chantilly lace and a matching veil. Her matron of honor was Mrs. Michael Pritchett of Ruther Glen, and bridesmaids were Miss Robin Kay of Newtown, Miss Diane Kay of Fredericksburg, Miss Mary Tod Haley and Mrs. Keith Madison, both of Bowling-Green. ■
They wore identical dresses in rainbow colors and carried baskets of mixed spring flowers.
