Estabrook’s life. His background is impressive. He played under Tony Drago, former assistant coach at Duke University, and then had Drago as an athletic director when he began coaching. Estabrook also spent three summers as coach at summer camps sponsored by Oscar Robertson, one of basketball's all time greats.
But Rappahannock's new superintendent has no plans to become involved in basketball or any other sport at RCHS except as an enthusiastic and supportive fan. The temptation to do more may be great but Estabrook is sure he can resist.
In his first year as principal in New York, the school's basketball team didn't win a single game all season under a rookie coach. Estabrook was there in the bleachers for every contest and noticed a long list of things he would have done differently. “But I kept my mouth shut." he concluded, with a wide grin.
