He acknowledged, however, that even if trials are speeded up, it may only result in a charge of classification for prisoners since persons convicted of misdemeaners and sentenced to 12 months or less serve time in local facilities.
Bottley sees the situation as improving at least somewhat in the near future with additional bed space available in the state system when the Brunswick facility opens July 1 and from a second penitentiary scheduled to open by the end of the year.
