On salary, however, Nancy Reeve stated that it was her assumption from discussions at last Friday’s work session that the 8.5 percent compromise raise would be applied to each experience step in the existing salary scale, not to each teacher’s individual pay. She explained that in voting for the 8.5 percent increase, she thought teachers would receive the percentage cost of living raise afforded all school employees plus their experience increment.
She was interrupted repeatedly during her explanation by Robert Eastham, his voice raised in protest. He insisted again and again that what the board approved on Friday was a straight 8.5 percent increase for all school employees and kept shoving what was presumably a copy of that earlier motion in front of Reeve.
