4. If you stay there to review them, copy down all important facts about house size, square foot values, tenant house site values, outbuilding values, and note all crossouts. Ask Mrs Scoggin to explain each set of crossouts to you. Generally, red crossouts were made by Hall. Black crossouts were changes made by the Equalization Board. No crossouts means Hall’s original assessments stand. Be sure to get all the total figures, too, both the Hall totals and the totals after any changes. You can do the arithmetic checking with a pocket calculator later.
5. Then go to see the Equalization Board. Make an appointment first. Ask someone to accompany you. Two heads are better than one in a meeting like this.
