Beekeepers Hold Picnic
The Northern Piedmont Beekeepers Association will hold its summer picnic meeting on Saturday, June 26, at Raymond Johnson’s home in Woodville, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Kemper Loyd, Culpeper County Extension Agent, will give a talk on how to show money. After a picnic on Red Oak Mountain, George Kelly, Dadant representative from Lynchburg, will speak on beeswax adulteration. Picnickers are asked to bring a covered dish which will be shared with the group, serving utensils, drinks and chairs. Plates, cups and eating utensils will be provided. To reach the assembly point at Johnson’s home, take Route 522 to Woodville and turn east up Red Oak Mountaon on Rt. 618. Johnson’s is the first house on the left. The public is invited to the summer picnic meeting.
Handicapped Services
Expanded services for the handicapped will be the topic of discussion at a coffee-break meeting on Tuesday, June 29, at 10 a.m. at Natures Foods Cafe in Washington. Topics to be covered include speech and tutoring services, right-to-read programs, transportation for the multipy-handicapped, early detection and intervention for infants and children at risk, parent-teacherconcerned citizen groups for support and advocacy, information exchange and referral services, respite care, recreation, vocational training and placement, living skills training and family counseling. Tim Breedlove, mental retardation specialist with the Rappahannock Mental Health Clinic, invites everyone interested in services for the handicapped to attend the informal coffee-break session.
Musical Program
The Gospel Travelers from Madison will present a musical program at Hopewell Baptist Church near Sperryville on Sunday, June 27, beginning at 3 p.m. The program will benefit the Women’s Rally and the public is invited.
