culture but we were taken to holding ponds at the riverside where the fish are loaded into boats bound for Canton ahd perhaps elsewhere. The tish were more than a foot long and looked beautiful. We were served one tor lunch —really a dinner—at the commune. I have never eaten better fish, or any other food such as we were given, platter after platter of traditional Chinese dishes, different entirely from what we know in America, although not different altogether in appearance. 1 have skipped supper since to w rite this.
We have been given a banquet by the head of the Canton travel bureau and served other wonderful meals
