The three campaign leaders, working with Charles M. Forbes, vice president for development and university relations at Virginia Tech, are putting together a statewide campaign organization to complete the fund-raising effort, as well as to organize a corresponding fund-raising program in Maryland, Lavery announced.
Van Clief said Virginia would be divided into nine .region* for campaign pur*, poses, with eaefc —gion having its own chairman and a committee representing all elements of the economy related to veterinary medicine. A statewide committee also will be organized in Maryland, he noted.
The 1980 General Assembly appropriated $8 million for the construction of veterinary medical facilities at Virginia Tech, with the understanding that a like amount would be obtained from non-state sources. All of the statefunded facilities are undto construction, and 1 previously funded clinie building has already been completed.
Private contributions and pledges totaling approximately $2 million have been obtained for the veterinary facilities so far.
