milk, egg, onions, salt and pepper. Mix well and shape into 2-inch size balls. Heat oil in skillet and brown meat balls slowly on all sides. Add the 1 cup Pear syrup, vinegar. Cloves and bay leaf. Cover and simmer 25 minutes. Add Pear halves and simmer 10 minutes longer or until meat is done. Remove meat balls and Pears to a platter and keep warm. Remove bay leaf from skillet and slowly stir in flour mixed with the 4 tablespoons Pear syrup into skillet and cook until thickened. Pour over meat balls and Pears. Serves 4-6.
