Sylvia Kreitler has been appointed as superintendent of the Rappahannock Welfare Department. She assumed her new position on June 22 after three years here as general social worker oriented toward child services.
Aileen Johnson, chairman of the county’s welfare board, reported that the vote was unanimous to name Kreitler to the post. “We’re very pleased that we were able to promote someone from within the department and that we had someone with Mrs. Kreitler’s ability and expertise." Johnson said that 25 persons applied for the position initially. The list was whittled down to five by the state welfare personnel in Richmond for interview and decision by the local board.
