“This is dreadful!” acknowledged Lee Bird, chairman of the county’s board of zoning appeals, as he apologized to permit applicants for cancelling Thursday’s advertised meeting after a quorum of the BZA failed to appear.
At 9 a.m. on Thursday. Bird, zoning administrator David Konick and applicants for a special use permit and two variances—Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Shultz, David Farrar and Mrs. Roger Ashby—were at the table in the basement of the clerk’s office, waiting for the rest of the BZA members to arrive.
No one came.
Konick said he’d notified the board members by letter by June 15th of the meeting on July 1. George Muth called the zoning office last week to announce that he wouldn’t be at the session. “I didn’t hear from anybody else so as far as I knew, they were going to be here,” Konick said.
