Mrs. Walter Hughey King, President General NSDAR, who has jurisdiction over the 3000 chapters in the United States made a surprise visit for this dedicaiton.
In Mrs. King’s remarks to the assembled group, she expressed her joy in being back in Virginia where her ancestors once lived. She announced that over 1/2 million dollars had been contributed by DAR members to aid in the restoration of the Statue of Liberty.
