Jessie Carpenter

Mrs. Jessie Marion Carpenter, 82, of Slate Mills, died Tuesday, July 23 at her residence.

Mrs. Carpenter was a native of Rappahannock County, a member of Nazareth Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Jean Carpenter of Washington, D.C. and Marion Ford of Richmond; two sons, Hilray (Ray) Carpenter and Jewel B. Carpenter, both of Boston and six grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers, Robert Frye of Etlan, Carroll Frye of Sperryville and Morris Frye of New York.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday at the Nazareth Baptist Church in Boston by the Rev. Howard Frye of Huntly. Burial was in the family section of the church cemetery.

W.C. Thompson Funeral Home in Culpeper was in charge of the arrangements.
