Our open land near Washington now also represents a large opportunity to the nation’s major real estate speculators and developers. Elsewhere their finished product advertises Fox Hollow, Meadowvale, Hunt Country Estates, Mountain View and all sorts of “farmettes.” As the outside developer bastardizes the integrity of such words, he also destroys the strong integrity of the local Realtor and real estate industry.

We need this open space for challenge, hope and excitement. It is important not only to the economic future of the farmer, but to the visual order of meadows and hills which have forever opened up the mind and will yet play upon man’s untouched ideas in science, medicine, government, technology and industry.
