“This year is our children’s year,” is the motto of the Student, Parent and Teacher Association (SPTA) of Rappahannock County’s Elementary School, who have embarked upon an ambitious program of activities for 1986.
“In short, parents and teachers get together, with the school’s blessings, to provide what tax dollars often cannot provide for their school and their children,” observed acting SPTA Chair Cindy Andreoni. “Although we still believe that more of our tax money must be devoted to the schools, we also understand that we must devote our personal resources, time and money, to improving them. Parents want the best for their children and are willing to work cooperatively to achieve common goals.”
At its first monthly meeting of 1986, the SPTA learned that the Rappahannock Elementary School sign, which it had commissioned for placement on school property, had been approved by the school board and was now awaiting zoning board approval. The 4x6 sign, designed by the local artist, Linda Nacamulli, is. to be permanently placed in front of the school. Currently, there is no building ^identification of the school.
