The Wakefield teams then faced Emmanuel at an away game where once again the Wakefield squads swept both matches. The junior varsity won 51-22 as Joey Giacofci of Haymarket led the scoring with 11 and Maar and Robby Roberts of Nokesville each scored nine points. Coach Leake said, “We won the game with mostly second string players.”
In the varsity match, Rowzie, Poore and Ferguson had a combined total of 34 points to earn a 50-24 victory in a game in which the Wakefield team was able to dominate both - sides of the floor.
In the most recent game of the season, the junior varsity t&^n traveled to Blue Ridge School anctwrapped up their winning streak with what was termed “nice revenge” by Coach Leake. The Wakefield team managed a 45-27 victory after having lost to Blue Ridge by seven points earlier in the season. Ferguson, who had not played in the first Blue Ridge game, led the team with 17 points, Brian McGushin of Haymarket scored 12 and Maar had 10 points. Coach Leake said, “They were much taller so we had to play a zone and with our full-court and half-•court presses we pressured their guards into turnovers.”
The teams have away games scheduled this week at Woodberry Forest and Tara Reston.
