To the editor:

Having just brought my loving pet back from the veterinarian and having paid him $91.50 to treat a paw crushed by a jaw trap, set less than 100 yards from my door, I feel the need to do all I can to eliminate the cruel practice of trapping in Virginia!

I don’t resent the money and would pay my last cent to help my loving, trusting pet, but no amount of money can make up for the pain and heartache this has caused.

So I am launching a campaign to get people who love animals, both wild and domestic, to call or write their elected representatives on both county and state levels.

I expect one percent of the population or less trap for sport and the other 99 percent are animal lovers, or at least are against unwarranted
