All-you-can eat breakfast
Washington Volunteer Fire Department will be having an all-youcan eat breakfast of pancakes, bacon, sausage, gravy, biscuits, eggs, fried apples, hash browns, with orange juice, milk, coffee, hot tea and hot chocolate on Saturday, Nov. 24, 7 a.m. to noon. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12.
Gun tickets available
The Chester Gap Fire Department is sponsoring a gun lottery. The ticket price is $30 and will be good for one year and you could win a gun a week for 52 weeks. There will only be 1,000 tickets. For more information call 635-4673 or 636-3279, anytime, 635-8305 after 6 p.m. or 635-5472 after 5 p.m.
Alumni basketball tourney
The RCHS Athletic Department will be holding the second annual men’s alumni basketball tournament Friday and Saturday, Nov. 23 and 24. This year’s tournament is co-sponsored by Shenandoah Motors in Front Royal which is providing game jerseys for all four teams and a trophy to the first place finisher and Most Valuable Player. Four coaches are needed immediately before teams can be selected. If interested, call Gary Leake from 8:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m. at 987-8575.
Christmas bazaar in Culpeper
The annual Christmas bazaar sponsored by the Culpeper Farmer’s Market will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Floyd T. Binns School on Rt. 229. Lots of parking. There will be unusual crafts, jewelry, wood items, needlework, dried flower arrangements, Christmas ornaments, all kinds of wreaths, stuffed animals and baked goods of all kinds will also be sold.
Washington's Colonial Christmas
First Washington is preparing for its annual Colonial Christmas celebration on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 1 and 2. The event will feature interpretive toijrs of the town by residents in the persona of colonial characters, strolling carollers dressed in colonial costume, traditional dances of the period, art and craft demonstrations, traditional dishes prepared in local restaurants, a puppet show and a childrens’ Christmas bazaar. The event is sponsored by the Washington Business Council, and there is no admission charge. For more information, call (703) 675-3738.
Cellist in concert
Mary C. Fraley, a classically trained cellist, will appear in concert at the Gay Street Theater in Washington on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. Trained at the Oberlin Conservatory and the Juilliard School of Music, Ms. Fraley plays a beautiful Nicolaus Amati cello, built in Cremona, Italy, in 1675. Accompanied by a piano, Ms. Fraley will play - pieces by Tartini, Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Schumann, Debussy, von Weber and Popper. Tickets are $8.50 adults and $5 children and can be purchased by calling RA AC at (703) 675-3193.
Citrus fruit sale
The Rappahannock Music Boosters Club is now selling cirtus fruit through the month of November. Fruit can be purchased from any band or chorus members and seventh graders. Proceeds will go towards purchasing band uniforms and the seventh grade trip.
