Shenandoah National Park Superintendent J.W. Wade announced this week that seven hunters recently received jail sentences for illegally killing a bear during January, 1987 in the Beldore Hollow section of the Park.
The illegal hunt, using dogs, began in Greene County along the east Park boundary and ended in Rockingham County in Beldore Hollow.
Supt. Wade noted that this successful investigation and prosecution was made possible by the cooperative efforts of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Attorney’s Office, and the National Park Service.
