Mayor Willis hopes that the neu system will be turned on soon. Approval from the Health Department is required before that can happen.
The public hearing for the water rates will continue at last month's meeting, and a proposed budget will be prepared.
The budget will be required anyway when the town goes to closing on the FMHA loan, according to Town Attorney Frank Reynolds. He also said that the water rates have to be in place when the loan begins being paid.
After much discussion from the audience, the council then voted to accept the loan package from FMHA, which includes a $75,000 loan and a 575,000 matching grant. Brad Fisher said that he felt a 4 1 2 percent loan was an outstanding rate that the town should take advantage of.
In other business. Mayor Willis said that the library would like to use the Town Hall as the site for their July 4th book sale this year.
