To the Editor:
We wish to supplement the letter to the editor written by Cathy Smith of Amissville (Jan. 4), “Alternatives To Abortion.” Our area is indeed blessed to have nearby centers available to help young women in crisis pregnancies find an alternative to abortion.
We would like ot make readers aware of an additional resource available right here in Rappahannock County known as “Friends 2 Mom.” Friends 2 Mom was organized about one year ago and is fashioned after the Baptist Women’s Missionary Uhion’s program entitled the “Mary and Elizabeth Project.”
Friends 2 Mom is a free service provided by women from Rappahannock County who are qualified to help pregnant and parenting teens in our community. The services offered are: “mentor or resource mothers” — women who will be friends and sources of childbirth and childrearing information for pregnant and parenting teens; a clothes closet offering maternity clothes, baby clothes up to size 2T, and limited baby equipment in good, clean and safe condition; and free childbirth education classes by a certified childbirth instructor.
