Johnny JeoJcins’s taped confession to child molestation charges was admitted as evidence in Circuit Court in Warrenton last week, despite a defense motion to keep the statements be kept out.
Jenkins, 26, of Washington, Va.. was indicted on three charges of aggravated sexual assault on a 6-yearold girl in February of 1992.
A motion to suppress the evidence alleges that Jenkins’ confession to sheriffs officers was the result of a “coercive and overbearing interrogation.” According to the motion, he only made thexstatement because he had been in an interrogation room for more than three and a half hours.
A transcript of the taped confession was filed as evidence for the Commonwealth, but the judge sealed it from public view.
