Purcell's Fantasies Offered
On Saturday, Feb. 4, the third concert in the current Smithsonian at Little Washington series takes place at The Theatre at Washington. The Smithsonian Chamber Players perform The Fantasies for Viols, by Henry Purcell, in a concert marking the 300th anniversary of the death'of Purcell, one of England’s greatest composers.
A popular feature of the Smithsonian at Little Washington series is the pre-concert talks given by the performers, and the upcoming concert is no exception. Kenneth Slowik, artistic director and a founding member of the Smithsonian Chamber Players, will give a talk on “Henry Purcell and Restoration England.” The talk begins at 3 p.m. The concert begins at 3:30p.m.
