Two businesses are leaving Washington for Sperryville, and another plans a branch store there. ; Rae and Brian Ross, owners of Mountainside Market which was located on Gay Street in Washington for several years, have moved into a new building on U.S. 211 in Sperryville. Mountainside Market now has at least three times the space and offers a multitude of healthy items, including fresh produce, bulk foods, breads, cheeses, beer and wine, vitamins and homeopathic remedies.
In the near future, the Rosses plan to have a deli offering many goodies including sandwiches, fresh coffee and croissants. They have mini and medium size baguettes also. The market was the last food store in town within walking distance for most people.
On a trial basis, they are open in their new location seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Four other businesses are also located in the new building.
Artist Tanya Richey is in the process of moving her Windflower Gallery from Main Street in Washington, though her new gallery is already open. Renamed the Tanya M. Richey Studio-Gallery, the gallery will be open, at least for the beginning of summer, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.^ Thursday through Monday. Windflower Gallery will remain open in its little log house in Washington until after July 4.
Jennifer Greene has opened the Odyssey Collection in another part of the building, and is open Thursdays through Mondays, with hours not yet set. Her phone number is 987-9658. See separate story on page B1.
