Did you know that more children will take part in summer reading programs at public libraries than will play in little league? At Rappahannock County Library we are getting ready for the Summer Reading Program.
Summer Reading begins on June 28 with two themes this year. For the younger children the theme is Amazing Library Kids. The older children will be reading to the Readers of the Round Table theme. There will be stickers, bookmarks, and reading logs for both groups.
There will also be storytimes on Monday mornings and performers on Wednesday evenings. Bill Wellington, Puppets by Pizazz and Lorraine Duisit Espinola are some of the performers this year. Schedules are available in the library. . . June 28 will also be the first day that many new children’s books will be available for checkout. The Friends of the Library have purchased hundreds of new books to help kick of summer reading. Look for favorites like Goosebumps, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys and Saddle Club.
