She said she is “reading up to try to get informed. I’m trying to be positive, not negative. I’m not trying to criticize anything that’s there.”

Mrs. WhetZel taught Bible study at the senior nutrition sites in Washington and Warrenton. She is concerned with values taught in schools. She said Biblically based values should be the foundation of education. “It’s not for the public schools to substitute socially acceptable changeable values for these.” She said she supports the valuesbased curriculum introduced in the schools this year.

“I feel I have a viewpoint that I could contribute,” she said. “If an issue comes up I will take a stand on the Christian side, not the liberal side. I want to be of some service.”
