It is scheduled, that all interested parties wanting to make the annual trip to the all day picnic-cemetery clean up etc., meet promptly at the parking area at the end of the County Route 614 in Gid Brown Hollow at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 24. Every one is asked to bring food to share at the noon meal. If you need seating you are also requested to bring that too. It is of utmost important that we keep the road from the parking area to Mr. Pullen’s gate clear. And don't forget...4 x 4’s are also needed.

20th Annual July 4th Celebration

The public is invited to come and celebrate the 20th annual Fourth of July day-long celebration in Washington on Tuesday, July 4. There will be a juried craft show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., bicycle parade for children 12 and under 4:30 p.m., a live band from 5 to 7 p.m. and a barbecue dinner at 6 p.m. There will be food, ice cream and home baked goodies available. Throughout the day there will be patriotic events and performing artists.

There will be a $2 per car parking charge of SI per person with all proceeds going to the fire department and other local charities and organizations.

End of Season Picnic Planned

RAA end of season picnic will be held June 24 starting with T-Ball games in the am, buffet starting at 11 and the awards ceremony at 2. For the buffet, T-Bali provides meat orcasserole, Minor — salad, Major — vegetables, Baberuth — bread or rolls, and Softball — desserts. Bring your own drinks.

There will be a fund game of parents versus kids afterwards. All uniforms to be turned in at the picnic.

RAA is hosting the 13-year-old tournament July 1-4. Help is needed with field maintenance and the concession stand. Please call Dennis Fairbrother, 987-8697 or Denny O'Neil, 937-5989, to volunteer.

Chester Gap Carnival Set

Carnival days will be held at Chester Gap June 28, 29, 30 and July 1. The annual event sponsored by the Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department will feature “Enchanting Illusions" on Wednesday evening; family night on Thursday; two shows by “Shy" and the crowning of queen on Friday and two shows on Saturday by “Stepping Out.” The grand prize of SI,000 will also be awarded Saturday evening. There will be games, fun, food, rides and entertainment for all.

Medicinal Herb Work

Join herbalist Kathleen Maier for a dazzling walk through the meadows and woodlands to identify and define local botanical medicine on Saturday, June 24. The morning will be devoted to plant identification and description of medicinal properties. After lunch there will be a hands on demonstrations. Fee is $30, workshop time is 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pack a lunch. Call 636-3078 for information.

4-H Overnight Camp Set

Junior 4-H Camp for Rappahannock and Fauquier Counties is July 913 and is fast approaching. Youth, ages 9-13, as of Jan. 1, 1995 are eligible to attend.

A ty pical day consists of morning classes, afternoon swimming and recreation and an evening campfire circle program. The camp is staffed by a camp director, camp nurse, lifeguard, college students who teach classes plus local Extension agents and 4-H adult leaders.

The cost of overnight is $110. A limited number of scholarships are available. To apply, please request an application. To register for camp, call or come by the Extension office at 675-3619.

Families Plan Reunion

The Weaver, Thornhill and Butler reunion will be held at 1 p.m. on June 25 at the Rappahannock Park near Washington. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish.
